LANCASTER -Kaila Crandall pitched a no-hitter to lead the Knight softball team to a 13-0, five-inning victory over Antelope Valley on Tuesday afternoon., Crandall walked two batters in the game., "Crandall pitched a great game," AV coach Mike Avery said., Liz Torres had a double and a home run for the Hawks (15-4, 7-2 Golden League), while Melissa Arriaga and Allison Mercado also homered., The Antelopes (2-14, 0-9) held strong in the field, committing just three errors., "As a team, we played one of our better defensive games," Avery said.,

Garcia sparks Bulldogs

PALMDALE - Rachel Garcia threw 16 strike-outs, hit a home-run and tallied two RBIs during Highland's 5-2 win over Pete Knight Thursday., "(Garcia) was in command today," Highland coach Dan Morrow said. "She helped her own cause with the home-run, and was walked the two other times she was at bat.", Pete Knight's Allison Mercado ended the game with a double and two RBIs., "Dogs can't fly but we chased the hawks around today," Morrow said., The Bulldogs are in the hunt for a championship with four games left in the season., "We have to win them all to be champs," Morrow said., Highland's next game is Tuesday at Littlerock at 3:15 p.m.

Paraclete 7, Marshall 0: Amanda Bradley (8-5) pitched a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts for the Spirits (11-7, 3-1 Alpha).

Paraclete scored all its runs in the sixth on five hits and three errors. Monica Williams and Taylor Cephers both had two-run singles for the Spirits.

QUARTZ HILL -It was clear that the first team to score would win the Golden League battle between the Highland and Quartz Hill softball teams on Thursday afternoon., The Rebels manufactured just enough runs to beat the Bulldogs 2-0 for the first time in two years., "It's a really good game to start out with, because it gets our motivation going and momentum going for the next game," Quartz Hill senior pitcher Cori Shreves said. "It's a good win, because there's history."

LANCASTER - The Quartz Hill softball team had a chance to win their own tournament, the 18th annual High Desert Classic, on Saturday. But the Rebels came up against Canyon for the second time in the tourney and the hard-hitting Cowboys used a four-run fourth inning to defeat the Rebels 5-1 and win the Division 1 bracket.

Stealth Adams fourth in Arizona

The Stealth Adams 18-and-under softball team had one of its best showings of the year as they placed fourth in the 2011 Amateur Softball Association 18u Gold Western National tournament last month.

The tournament took place from July 27-31 in Phoenix.

"It wasn't too bad for our first time going out," Stealth coach Sarah Adams said.
